In 2017, I was still doing part time script writing for the movie industry. I became increasingly disillusioned with the material they were putting in front of me to work on. The content was mainly dark, and negative in nature, the characters were unlikeable, and the original writers lacked basic conversational skills throughout their script. The entertainment quality just wasn’t there anymore. I’m of a certain age that I can remember going to see great movies at the theater, and people would actually stand and applaud at the conclusion. I noticed in more recent years that people would tend to just solemnly leave the theater as though they had just attended a funeral. Obviously, the movie had not fulfilled their need for entertainment.
In conversation with many of my peers, I was surprised that they saw things the same as I did. It was then that I decided to go in a different direction from the mainstream. In 2019, I started Large Lion Entertainment with the intent to create compelling, positive stories with interesting characters, and unexpected twists and turns in the storyline. Stories that the majority of the population really wanted to see. For the first six months, things appeared to be going well. Then Covid hit, followed by a myriad of other problems that changed the world, and the economy for the worst. Rather than to close up shop like many of my peers were forced to do, I soldiered on, turning my written scripts into novels and short stories. In a little over six years, we’ve put out five books in The Branchview Series, as well as one stand alone book titled Stories From The Hidden World.
We’d like to invite you all to join us on our journey as we grow beyond novels, and branch out into other areas of entertainment such as music and film. If you’re looking for something fresh, new, and apart from the mainstream, you’re guaranteed to find it here. Keep looking for our upcoming blogs where we’ll discuss present and future projects as well as state interesting facts, and side stories about our finished projects. Enjoy the trip.
